Definitions

“Personal Data” means information about an identifiable individual, including information that can identify an individual directly or indirectly. Personal Data may include information such as a name, identification number, location data, online identifier, financial information, or other information that can reasonably be associated with an identifiable individual. Personal Data does not include information that has been anonymized so that it can no longer reasonably be associated with an identifiable individual.

Personal Data also does not generally include information that relates solely to an organization rather than an individual, such as a corporate name, corporate address, or general corporate telephone number. However, if such information is combined with Personal Data in a manner that reasonably allows it to be associated with an identifiable individual, or is otherwise considered Personal Data under applicable Canadian privacy law, it will be treated as Personal Data under this Privacy Policy.

Personal data we process

We process Personal Data as necessary to provide our budgeting, financial management, and banking-related Services. We also process Personal Data obtained from third-party service providers when customers choose to use features that require those services. We may process Personal Data that we collect directly, such as when a user visits our website, creates or uses a ZANE™ account, communicates with us, or otherwise interacts with our Services.

This data may be collected through information that you actively submit to us or through automated processes. The individuals whose Personal Data we process may include users, customers, client representatives, representatives of potential clients, business representatives, and other individuals who interact with ZANE™.

We do not knowingly collect or otherwise process Personal Data from individuals who are not legally eligible to use the applicable ZANE™ Services. Where age requirements apply to a particular financial product or Service, access is limited in accordance with applicable Canadian law and the requirements of our financial institution and service-provider partners.

We collect and process only the Personal Data reasonably required for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and as otherwise permitted or required under applicable Canadian privacy law.

The Personal Data we process in relation to our personal finance software is based on the Services provided to our customers and, where applicable, the requirements of our financial institution, banking, payment, identity-verification, data aggregation, and other service-provider partners.

Where consent is required under applicable Canadian privacy law, we obtain consent before collecting, using, or disclosing Personal Data, unless collection, use, or disclosure without consent is otherwise permitted or required by law.

The consequence of declining or withdrawing consent may be that certain ZANE™ Services or features cannot be provided where the relevant Personal Data is reasonably necessary to provide those Services.
  • Data processed as a budgeting & banking provider for our clients.
We process Personal Data to perform our contractual obligations and provide our Services. Processing may include analyzing financial transactions and performing data modelling, classification, and categorization to build personalized budgets, forecasts, financial insights, and other personal financial management features.

Where users choose to connect external financial accounts, our analysis may include financial transactions and account information obtained from those external accounts through authorized third-party data providers.

We may also process aggregated or anonymized information to improve our Services and assist customers in making more meaningful financial decisions.
  • Data processed from third-party service providers.
When a feature that connects or aggregates external financial accounts is activated by a user, we may receive Personal Data from authorized third-party data aggregation or financial service providers. This may include financial account information and transaction information necessary to provide the requested ZANE™ features.

We use this information as an integrated part of our personal financial management and data analysis Services. We do not sell Personal Data.

We may also receive information from banking, payment, identity-verification, fraud-prevention, security, and other service providers where reasonably necessary to provide the Services, protect users, or satisfy legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Data processed directly.
We process technical and navigational information when you visit our website at zanemoney.com or use our Services. Technical information may include IP address, general geographical location, device identifiers and related information, browser type, operating system, and application information. Navigational information may include mobile application screens and webpages viewed, selections made, features used, and the length and timing of visits.

Our primary purpose in processing this information is to provide access to our Services, maintain their security and functionality, understand how our Services are used, and improve our products and services.

We may process contact information when you submit forms, contact ZANE™, join a waitlist, request information, communicate with customer support, or otherwise interact with us. This information may include your name, email address, telephone number, and other information you choose to provide.

We may also process information necessary to create and administer your account, verify your identity, provide financial Services, process or facilitate transactions, satisfy regulatory requirements, and prevent fraud or unauthorized activity.

We may process payment or transaction information when you use applicable ZANE™ Services.
